Ever wonder if there was a connection between the Daily Planet and Superboy, the TV Series? There was, and his name was TJ White. TJ was Perry White's young son on Superboy, the TV Series. TJ was, coincidently, a photographer. This may have been an attempt to fill the boots of Jimmy Olsen, and it worked well. Both TJ and Clark worked for the college paper which was called The Shuster Herald. TJ's full name was Terrence Jenkins White III (the third). The actor who portrayed TJ actually invented the name of his own character. Years later he told the webmaster, "I didn['t realize it back then, but now I see that being TJ the third would have been impossible because his Father's name was Perry!" He didn't realize it, and nobody else did either. The actor who played TJ White was an unknown named Jim Calvert and now he is forever immortalized in Superman history. TJ also appeared in the short run Superboy the TV Series comic book.

TJ White was in the first season of the show as a regular cast member until Ilya Salkind did a complete casting overhaul. Not only did Ilya get rid of TJ, but he got rid of Superboy as well (John Haymes Newton) and hired different actors. Despite this, Jim Calvert gave an excellent performance as the young sidekick. He was also the comic relief of the show. His standout performance is in the episode "Succubus" which co-starred Cybil Danning, a very well-known actress for her previous work. Cybil was the older woman who lured TJ into her romantic world. Later, TJ discovered her deception as she revealed that she was a life-sucking succubus who drained life-force out of all her male prey. This episode was exceptionally well done, and Calvert hit all the right notes proving his acting ability.
"Stand Up and Get Knocked Down" was another grreat episode focusing on TJ, which proved Calvert's his ability as an actor. Most of the time, TJ was just Clark's roomate and pal; he was usually the one to crack a joke or two and he usually got into a lot of trouble that required the help of Superboy. Lana Lang who was played by Stacy Haiduk hung out with both TJ and Clark. In all honestly, there was more of a real-life college friendship between all of them. In fact, there were times when both TJ and Lana were in deep trouble, and Superboy came to the rescue. Today, Jim is actively acting, but mostly on stage. He has also done Opera, which isn't easy. After Superboy, Jim worked on a couple of notable series Beverly Hills 90210 and Ferris Bueller. There was also news that he runs a stage company for that produces plays.
